    Most runners treat the bottle as the least important piece of kit, ranked somewhere below socks. That ranking is backwards. The shoe affects how a run feels, but the bottle decides if you drink at all, and drinking is the variable with the largest effect on how the back half of a long run goes. A runner who loses 2% of body mass to sweat slows measurably, and the thing standing between that runner and the fluid is a container. One design invites a sip every few minutes.
