‎He was sworn in as the 6th democratically elected governor of Osun State on Sunday, 27 November 2022 by the State Chief Judge at Osogbo Township Stadium.

‎On 16 August 2026, he was re-elected governor under the Accord Party. INEC declared him winner after polling 511,067 votes to defeat APC’s Bola Oyebamiji who got 444,815 votes.
