Social media activist Verydarkman has condemned a viral video showing a woman allegedly celebrating after receiving money for her vote during the recently concluded Ekiti State governorship election.‍

Reacting to the clip, VeryDarkMan expressed frustration over what he described as a growing acceptance of vote-buying among some voters.

He argued that citizens often complain about poor governance, inadequate healthcare, insecurity, and lack of public services, yet some still allegedly exchange their votes for relatively small amounts of money during elections.

The activist questioned the long-term consequences of such actions, suggesting that electoral choices influenced by cash incentives could contribute to the very governance challenges many Nigerians later criticize.

He also lamented what he sees as insufficient public attention to allegations of vote-buying, arguing that reports and videos relating to electoral misconduct should receive greater scrutiny and media coverage.

    His words…

“Every time, we keep pitying poor people, whereas many of them don’t even pity themselves. Look at this lady celebrating after allegedly selling her vote for ₦15,000 in the just-concluded Ekiti State election. If any of her parents becomes critically ill today, I’m sure there won’t be an ambulance available to take them to the hospital. That video Isaac Fayose posted where people are sharing votes card, it should be on top media news, but everywhere is quite.”
