Seiko is celebrating the 45th anniversary of Honda’s Motocompo with the launch of the Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition, a watch inspired by the ultra‑compact folding scooter that became a symbol of Japanese urban mobility in the 1980s. Produced between 1981 and 1985, the 49cc Motocompo was designed to fit inside the boot of the Honda City car, embodying practicality, innovation and playful design. This collaboration translates those qualities into a distinctive timepiece that merges Seiko’s mechanical reliability with Honda’s design legacy.Translating the scooter's distinctive aesthetic into watch form, the timepiece is built around a 36mm Seiko 5 Sports Field series case. The vibrant yellow dial features bold black lines mirroring the Motocompo's original colorway, accompanied by the classic Honda logo at 9 o'clock and the word "AUTOMATIC" rendered in Honda’s signature typeface. Furthering the vehicle-inspired motif, the crown is engraved with "TURN," while the nylon strap pays homage to the scooter’s car-securing "carrying point" component with an "Insertion Point" engraving. On the reverse, the case back displays a layer of red paint recalling the Motocompo's accent trim, along with an individual limited-edition serial number. The watch is limited to 8,000 pieces worldwide, with an allocation of 455 pieces dedicated to the UK market. Pre-orders are open now, with official deliveries scheduled to begin in September. The Seiko 5 Sports x Honda Motocompo Limited Edition can be ordered via the Seiko Boutique website, retailing at £340 GBP (approx. $456 USD)
