Boomman says Money Mu should be grateful for an $80,000 Lil Durk feature—but Money Mu previously said he never requested it, forcing Loon to question who the label decision truly benefited. Full YouTube Description Boomman says spending approximately $80,000 to secure Lil Durk for Money Mu’s “EAT” remix was a blessing—and believes Money Mu showed entitlement by questioning the decision. But Loon brings the complete backstory into the conversation. Money Mu created and released the original “EAT” before Authentic Empire became involved with the Lil Durk remix. When Boomman arranged the feature, Money Mu says he did not personally request Lil Durk or select him for the record. Money Mu initially accepted the opportunity and publicly credited Boomman and Authentic Empire for putting the collaboration together. However, he later explained that the relationship with Durk was strictly business and questioned whether the alleged $80,000 could have been spent more effectively on marketing or on a collaboration built through a genuine relationship. Boomman rejects that argument. He says an artist cannot tell another person how to spend his money—especially when that person is investing resources and creating opportunities the artist could not secure alone. That is when Loon identifies the other side of the deal: “Because it’s your money, you forget it’s their talent.” Boomman supplied the investment, but Money Mu supplied the original record, voice, name and career connected to the decision. Loon also questions whether Authentic Empire fulfilled its own business responsibility after securing the feature. If Boomman uses music-industry standards to defend the label’s agreements and control, should those same standards require the label to fully market and support the record? The conversation then becomes larger than the $80,000. Was the Lil Durk feature a personal blessing, a label expense or both? Did Money Mu owe Boomman gratitude for a move he never requested? Could the collaboration also increase Boomman’s credibility and leverage as an executive? And can a label describe an investment as love when the artist questions the strategy—but call it business when defending the contract? By the end of the exchange, Boomman admits he was “doing business with his heart” and says that once he realized the artists were operating from business, he changed his approach.
