It feels like Kodak Black’s legal issues have often been more newsworthy than his musical accomplishments. Unfortunately, the past few years have suggested that his troubles with the law have impeded the growth of his career to a degree. This year, we’ve seen Yak find himself in trouble with the law, including one arrest in May when he was charged with fleeing police.

Most recently, a 15-minute video of his arrest surfaced online that shows the moments he turned himself in to police. The arrest was related to that May charge, which allegedly marked his second run-in with the police that week. The video shows Kodak hopping out of an SUV before getting a pat down and eventually being placed in cuffs.

The May arrest captured on bodycam footage related to charges connected to a February 27 incident where Yak “did have knowledge that he had been ordered to stop” by police yet still “proceeded to flee from deputies.” The warrant claimed Yak also obstructed an officer “in the lawful execution of his legal duties, without offering or doing violence to the person of the officer.”

The arrest also happened around the same time when Yak pleaded not guilty to drug charges following accusations of drug trafficking. That was when police allegedly discovered MDMA in his car during a stop.

At the time, his attorney claimed that this was another example of the rapper being targeted.

“This is a self surrender from yet another ‘investigation’ that just happened to also take five months to ‘investigate’ for allegedly fleeing and eluding,” Bradford Cohen said. “It’s not unexpected, as this is usually the procedure we go through where there is an unfounded weak arrest and then followed up by yet another arrest for cases that allegedly take five or six months to investigate. At this point I think everyone agrees that Kodak is consistently being targeted.”
