If you’re in a serious relationship, is coming home at 3 or 4 in the morning disrespectful—or should your partner simply trust you? In this 8 At The Table clip, Rico Hundo, Erin The Renegade, Amanda and Romeo get into a heated debate about staying out all night, checking in with your partner, relationship boundaries, double standards and what happens when one person decides, “If you can do it, I can do it too.” The conversation starts with a simple scenario: you leave home for brunch around noon, the day turns into drinks and hanging out with friends, and suddenly you’re still outside at 3 or 4 AM. Do you owe your partner a phone call? Is a quick “I’m alive, I’m having fun and I’ll be home later” enough—or does being in a committed relationship mean you shouldn’t be staying out that late in the first place? Then the conversation gets even more complicated when Rico argues that he doesn’t want a relationship built on tit-for-tat behavior. If he comes home late one night, he doesn’t want his partner deliberately going out the next night just because he did it first. Erin pushes back on the double standard: if one person has the freedom to stay out, why shouldn’t the other person have that same freedom? And what if she isn’t getting revenge at all—maybe she simply wants her own night out after staying home while her partner had his? The table debates trust, communication, marriage, children, reasonable expectations, curfews, retaliation and whether couples need clearly established rules before somebody crosses a boundary they never knew existed. Watch the full conversation and tell us in the comments: If your partner leaves for brunch at noon and comes home at 4 AM, is that disrespectful? And if YOU do it first, do you have any right to complain when your partner does the same thing?
