Nigerian businessman and philanthropist Tony Elumelu has said that luck played a significant role in his journey to success, stressing that achievement is not always determined solely by talent, intelligence, or hard work.

Speaking in an interview with Korty EO, Elumelu reflected on the factors that contributed to his rise in business and leadership.

According to him, success is not always a direct result of being the smartest, strongest, or most capable person in a particular field.

He noted that timing, opportunity, and fortunate circumstances can also play a crucial role in determining outcomes.

The chairman of Heirs Holdings explained that he considers himself “a product of luck,” acknowledging that favorable opportunities helped shape his career alongside effort, preparation, and determination.

    He said …

“At times you don’t come out successful because you are the best in class or because you’re the fittest or most energetic, sometimes you need luck and I’m a product of luck”
