The Sacramento Kings have announced their Las Vegas Summer League roster, featuring a former CIAA guard on the coaching staff as an assistant.

One year after beginning his coaching career, former Virginia State standout guard Imhotep (Tap) George will get his shot on an NBA sideline as a member of the Kings’ Summer League coaching staff.

In his playing career, George’s previous stops included two seasons at Allegany College, one at Tallahassee State College, and two at Eastern Washington, before making his way to Virginia State in 2023.

His lone season with the Trojans saw him average 8.4 points per game on 45% shooting from the field and 40% from three-point range.

This included a three-game stretch in mid-December when he combined to connect on 12-of-15 three-point attempts, averaging 16.7 points in that span.

In 2025, George joined the University of California at Berkeley men’s basketball team support staff as a graduate assistant under head coach and former two-time NBA champion Mark Madsen.

At last year’s Las Vegas Summer League, the Sacramento Kings made it to the championship game before losing to the Charlotte Hornets, led by 2026 NBA Rookie of the Year runner-up Kon Knueppel.
