    The St Lucia Kings have appointed West Indies Test captain Roston Chase as captain for the 2026 season of the Caribbean Premier League. The 34-year-old Barbadian all-rounder, a key member of the franchise and part of its 2024 title-winning team, will lead the side when the tournament begins on August 9. Although born in Barbados, Chase has strong Saint Lucian roots through his grandmother. He also has a successful history with the St Lucia Kings, finishing as the CPL's leading run-scorer in 2021 with 446 runs and earning Player of the Tournament honours. "It is a tremendous hon-our to be named captain of the Saint Lucia Kings," Chase said. "This franchise has been a big part of my cricketing journey, and I have always Kings and playing in front of enjoyed representing the have the opportunity to lead our passionate fans. To now this team is something I am incredibly proud of." St Lucia Kings head coach Daren Sammy, who previously captained and coached Roston Chase at the franchise, strongly backed his appointment as captain. "Roston has earned the respect of everyone in the dressing room through his consistency, work ethic and selfless approach to the game," Sammy said. "He leads by example and understands what it means to represent Saint Lucia. I have no doubt he has the character and cricketing acumen to guide this talented group, and I'm excited to see the team rally behind him as we begin another important CPL season." The Kings will begin their 2026 CPL campaign against the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in St Vincent on August 9. Roston Chase will make his home debut as captain when the Kings host matches at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground on August 12, 14, 16, 19 and 21.
