To celebrate 10 years of marriage, a major milestone for any union, many couples enjoy a nice dinner. Some go on a trip. A few others splurge on big gifts or upgraded bling. For NBA champion Kentavious Caldwell-Pope of the Memphis Grizzlies, and wife McKenzie, a decade and five children later, they decided to go all out with a celebration. So, they enlisted the help of Diann Valentine, a multihyphenate who is known for producing and designing outstanding wedding events, to help them honor their journey in the best way possible.

“We both felt that staying married for 10 years was an even greater accomplishment than getting married 10 years ago,” McKenzie says. “We’ve celebrated so many beautiful milestones together—from winning two NBA championships and navigating cross-country moves to raising our five incredible children. Through every season, we’ve continued choosing each other. This vow renewal wasn’t about looking back; it was about honoring everything we’ve built and celebrating the life we’re still creating together.”

The process of planning took six months, and the couple had different roles. Kentavious focused on the entertainment, while McKenzie dove headfirst into the “countless details” that make any event an unforgettable one. They leaned on Valentine to bring their vision to life. “She handled every challenge with such grace that we were able to stay present and enjoy the process. She didn’t just plan an event—she thoughtfully curated an experience that felt deeply personal to us and everyone we invited to celebrate alongside us.”

After initially aiming to commemorate the milestone in Miami, they had to pivot due to the frenzy caused by the summer’s major sporting events touching down in the city: Formula One and the FIFA World Cup. The next best destination ended up being the perfect one: Palm Beach.

“Diann suggested Palm Beach—a place neither of us had ever visited—and we instantly fell in love with its timeless elegance and charm,” says McKenzie. There, they found Palm House and turned it into The House of CP.

“Its sophisticated design, intimate scale, and effortless blend of old Palm Beach timeless glamour with modern luxury provided the perfect backdrop for the story we wanted to tell. It became the creative heartbeat of the weekend, inspiring an experience that felt intimate, intentional, and unmistakably Palm Beach,” she says. ” By privately buying out the hotel and transforming it into The House of CP, our guests weren’t simply attending a vow renewal—they became part of it. We wanted every guest to feel less like they were attending a celebration and more like they had been welcomed into our private estate for the weekend.”

A favorite moment included the couple seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony, he in his Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo, McKenzie in a stunning Ines Di Santo gown. Other special touches involved Pastor Touré Roberts, of The Potter’s House of Dallas, who officiated the ceremony. That church was McKenzie’s home church as a Dallas native. They also had everyone from R&B group NEXT to a worship experience led by Jason McGee & The Choir, and even Jermaine Dupri, Jagged Edge, and an after-party with rappers Quavo and BossMan Dlow. In addition, they involved their five children in big and small, but all meaningful ways, for the ceremony.

“Having them present as we recommitted ourselves to one another made the moment even more meaningful,” says McKenzie. “Tasking our oldest son, Kenzo, with escorting his mom down the aisle is a moment our family will cherish forever.”

The couple even included The CP Boutique. It was a hospitality suite that welcomed guests and helped their special day unfold as “a celebration of love, family, friendship, and the community that has supported us throughout our journey.”

And that journey has included plenty of change, for them as individuals, and as partners for life.

“These last 10 years have taught me that true partnership is built on trust, grace, and teamwork,” says Kentavious. “Life changes, people grow, and every season brings something new, but we’ve learned how to grow together instead of apart. I’ve discovered strengths in myself because of the love and support we’ve built. Marriage isn’t about never disagreeing—it’s about choosing respect, forgiveness, and commitment every single day, especially when it’s difficult.”

McKenzie echoes the idea that you have to make an active choice to ensure success day to day and year to year.

“The last 10 years have taught me that I don’t have to do life alone. I’ve always been independent and sometimes reluctant to ask for help, but my husband has loved me in a way that has softened my heart,” she states. “Learning to trust him and allow him to lead has made me a stronger partner and allowed me to be more present in our marriage and our family. I’ve learned that when we put our relationship first, everything else has a stronger foundation. You don’t have to be perfect—you simply must keep choosing one another.”
