Raphael Onyedika made his competitive debut for Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday as the Bundesliga side began their DFB-Pokal campaign with an emphatic 11-0 victory over St. Tönis.

The Nigeria international started the first-round tie and completed the full 90 minutes as Frankfurt dominated from start to finish.

Although he did not contribute a goal or assist, Onyedika played an important role in Frankfurt’s midfield as his new side controlled possession and dictated the tempo throughout the contest.

Frankfurt needed just four minutes to open the scoring through Jonathan Burkardt, before Robin Koch doubled their advantage six minutes later.

Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouy-Echghouyab added a third in the 18th minute before Burkardt struck again in the 29th minute.

Can Uzun then scored twice within three minutes to put Frankfurt 6-0 ahead, with Burkardt completing his hat-trick before half-time.

Elias Baum, Younes Ebnoutalib and Mario Götze also found the net as Frankfurt went into the break with a remarkable 10-0 advantage.

    Frankfurt turn attention to Bundesliga

With the tie already beyond doubt, Frankfurt eased off in the second half but continued to control proceedings.

Substitute Farès Chaïbi completed the scoring in the 87th minute to seal one of the most emphatic victories of the opening DFB-Pokal round.

The result sends Frankfurt into the second round and gives Onyedika a positive start to his career in Germany following his move from Belgian side Club Brugge.

The midfielder will now turn his attention to the Bundesliga, with Frankfurt scheduled to begin their league campaign away to Union Berlin on August 29.
