A dispute over personal information spilled into open court during the Tupac Shakur murder trial when Duane “Keefe D” Davis accused prosecutors of repeatedly making his family’s addresses public. Speaking directly to the judge, Davis said the exposure has already had consequences at home and argued that his relatives are being put in danger while he remains on trial.

“They keep giving out my address. They broke in my house, vandalized my house, vandalized my wife’s car, you know what I’m saying? Because they keep giving out my address,” Davis told the court. He then claimed the problem had expanded beyond his own home. “Now, they done gave out my sister’s address. This stuff is wrong. They are wrong!”

Davis did not provide evidence during the exchange establishing who was responsible for the alleged break-in or vandalism. His complaint concerned the prosecution’s handling of his personal information and what he believes has resulted. The moment briefly shifted attention away from testimony in a trial that has placed Davis’ past statements and personal history before an unusually large public audience. Proceedings have been streamed from Clark County District Court as the state presents its case nearly 30 years after Shakur was killed.

His frustration extended to his treatment while incarcerated. “I get beat up by the cops, a guy attacked me in here, sent me to prison. It’s just wrong,” Davis told the judge. A prosecutor responded by suggesting the anger was rooted elsewhere, telling the court, “I think he’s upset because I’m prosecuting him for murder.” Davis immediately rejected that explanation. “You’re endangering my family’s life,” he replied.

The exchange comes as prosecutors continue trying to establish that Davis helped organize the September 7, 1996 attack that killed Shakur. The state alleges the shooting was retaliation for the MGM Grand beating of Davis’ nephew Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson hours earlier. Davis is not accused of firing the fatal shots. Prosecutors instead contend that he obtained the weapon and helped facilitate the attack from the white Cadillac that pulled alongside Shakur and Suge Knight on the Las Vegas Strip. Davis has pleaded not guilty.

Much of the prosecution’s case relies on statements Davis made about the killing years later, including accounts given in interviews and his 2019 memoir. His defense argues those stories were embellished and cannot be treated as reliable admissions. The trial remains underway in Las Vegas, where Davis faces life in prison if convicted of murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang.
