He’s back again. Tyson Fury fights Arslanbek Makhmudov on Saturday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The 37-year-old retired in December 2024 after losing against Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in a row on points. Few believed he was truly gone, given his track record of retiring and returning.

However, another break from the sport raises questions about what the Gipsy King has left to offer in boxing.

While Fury’s return to the ring seems unavoidable, his re-entry into the division raises the prospect of a long-awaited British heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua, but first he must defeat Russian-born contender Arslanbek Makhmudov.

Fury hasn’t fought since December 2024, when he lost the second of two consecutive fights to Oleksandr Usyk, his first professional defeat. Makhmudov won twice in 2025 after losing twice by stoppage in the previous three matches.

“I crack on with my own business… I’m not anything but a fighter,” Fury stated in February. “And that is how I will always be. And that is why I’m back, staying in my own lane and doing what I always do.

What time will Tyson Fury fight?

The main card is slated to begin at 7 p.m. (18:00 GMT) and will be televised on Netflix.

Fury and Makhmudov are scheduled to enter the ring just after 10:00 p.m. (21:00 GMT), with the fight beginning around 10:30. It is scheduled for 12 rounds.

The co-main event between Conor Benn and Regis Prograis is scheduled to begin around 9:30pm (20:30 GMT).

In 2015, the voluble and gregarious British boxer defeated Wladimir Klitschko to win his first heavyweight belt.

He later returned from a lengthy absence due to illness to fight an unbelievable trilogy with Deontay Wilder, drawing with the American knockout artist in the first fight but winning the following two to win and defend the WBC world title.

In recent years, the Gipsy King has faced Usyk (losing twice to the Ukrainian) and defeated Derek Chisora three times.

Fury escaped a scare in a boxing battle against mixed martial arts competitor Francis Ngannou in October 2023, recovering from being knocked down to win by split decision.

He has now emerged from retirement for the fifth time to confront Makhmudov.

Makhmudov embarked on a great run after turning professional, going 18-0 before suffering his first setback, a stoppage loss against Agit Kabayel in December 2023.

While he has a lot of great knockouts and wins over decent fighters like Dave Allen and Carlos Takam, he also lost to Guido Vianello via stoppage due to a swollen eye and will face Fury, who is a whole new level of quality.
