A lady has sparked conversations online after sharing her views about student life at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), challenging common beliefs about cultism in higher institutions.

    Student perspective sparks debate

In a statement that has since gone viral, she argued that while many assume cult-related activities are present in all universities, UNILAG stands out as an exception.

According to her, the campus culture is more centred on social activities and entrepreneurship rather than violence or secret groups. Her remarks have drawn mixed reactions from students and alumni alike.

Everybody is always of the opinion that there are cultists in every university but I don’t know why nobody is coming out to say UNILAG is an exception. UNILAG is more focus on parties and how to make money,” she said.

    Mixed reactions trail statement

The claim has since generated debate, with some supporting her view while others disagreed, insisting that no institution is entirely free from such issues.

Over the years, concerns about cultism in Nigerian universities have remained a recurring topic, including a widely reported 2022 case involving student clashes in different institutions across the country.

Observers say such discussions highlight the need for transparency and improved campus safety measures nationwide.
