    On Thursday, the Senate ratified Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma’s appointment as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria confirmed by President Bola Tinubu.

    The confirmation came after President Bola Tinubu submitted a letter to the Senate on Wednesday requesting formal approval of the appointment.

    During a plenary session presided over by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Muttaqha Darma was extensively questioned on his plans to address the country’s present housing crisis, should he be assigned the Housing Portfolio.

    After reviewing Muttaqha Rabe comments and presentation, the Senate confirmed his nomination.

    During the same session, the Senate confirmed Obehi Aire Okafor’s nomination as Co-chairman of the Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund’s Governing Council.

    Senator Musa Mohammed Sani (Niger East), Chairman of the Committee on Finance, submitted a screening report, which led to its confirmation.

    The Senate also approved the National Assembly Service Pension Board (Establishment Act) Amendment Bill 2026.
