Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has stirred debate after speaking on concerns surrounding insecurity, national unity, and the role of religion in Nigeria’s future.

During a recent sermon, Ibiyeomie dismissed suggestions that Nigeria could be transformed into an Islamic state, insisting that the country’s religious and ethnic diversity makes such a prospect impossible.

He argued that Nigerians from various regions and backgrounds would not abandon their beliefs or identities.

The cleric also expressed strong views on the country’s security challenges, claiming that the Nigerian military possesses the capacity to decisively confront armed groups if given the necessary backing and direction.

He further questioned discussions about foreign security involvement in addressing Nigeria’s internal security problems.

The comments come amid ongoing national conversations about insecurity, terrorism, national cohesion, and the relationship between religion and politics in Nigeria.

    His words in part …

“All this agenda is aimed at making Nigeria an Islamic nation, and it can never happen. Are you telling me they will turn an Igbo man or a South-South man into a Muslim? If the Nigerian Army wants to wipe them off, they can do it in one day. And they have the power to do it. You bring Turkish army to come and protect Nigeria? Thank you. We’re not stup!d. Nigeria will never be an islamic nation. If they want it they can take their part and go. But this country will never be run by Islam”
