Residents of Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have expressed outrage after a delegation reportedly sent by the Nigerian government arrived with relief materials following a recent terrorist attack.

The items, which included mats, buckets, and school bags, were reportedly delivered in an ambulance.

However, in a video seen online, grieving residents rejected the supplies, describing them as inadequate given the scale of devastation suffered by the community.

Some of the residents were heard saying …

“We don’t need these things. “What we want is security and the return of our people.”

Locals insisted that their immediate priority is security and the safe return of their abducted relatives, rather than relief items. Many voiced frustration, saying the gesture failed to address the urgent realities they are facing.

The anger comes after reports that more than 200 people were killed during an attack by suspected insurgents linked to Boko Haram. In addition to the killings, at least 176 women and children were reportedly abducted and remain in captivity.

Community members noted that many of those kidnapped are relatives of victims who were killed, deepening the crisis in the area.

The incident has drawn further attention following the circulation of a video showing some of the abducted victims appealing for urgent rescue. In the footage, the captives appeared weak and distressed, calling on authorities to intervene.

The attackers also reportedly claimed responsibility for the abductions and urged the victims to make final appeals to the government, intensifying fears for their safety.
