We’re soon to get some sort of answers surrounding one of America’s most infamous cold cases–the death of Tupac Shakur. For nearly 30 years, conspiracy theories have floated around surrounding ‘Pac’s death, and its unsolved nature has been one of hip-hop’s biggest mysteries. But as Keefe D’s trial begins this week, Mopreme Shakur explained to CNN how the family has been cautiously optimistic about the outcome.

“Over the years, we have found ways to cope with the trauma, with the drama, and try to still continue on and have a full life. You dig?” Mopreme said, All Hip-Hop reports. “These are strange days we’re living in. Let the process take its course, and see where we land.”

“I hope that the trial is fair, and we find out the truth,” he continued. “The last 30 years have been exhausting and stressful for our family. We’ve waited so long for this moment.”

Keefe D Trial In Tupac Murder Case Begins This Week

Duane “Keefe D” Davis, the sole person charged in connection with Tupac’s 1996 killing, has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors allege Davis helped orchestrate the shooting as retaliation for an earlier confrontation involving his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, and members of Tupac’s entourage in Las Vegas.

The investigation remained unresolved for decades before renewed attention focused on Davis. His 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend, along with public interviews and statements, became important pieces of the prosecution’s case.

The trial may also revisit longstanding allegations surrounding the East Coast-West Coast rap rivalry and claims involving Sean “Diddy” Combs. Davis has previously alleged that Combs wanted Tupac and Knight killed, though those claims remain disputed.

We will keep you posted on any further updates surrounding the trial.
