    A viral video circulating on social media has sparked mixed reactions after it showed how local traders in a village naturally chill soft drinks before selling them to customers.

    In the trending clip, two women were seen arranging assorted soft drinks upright before covering the bottles with wet sand.

    According to the video, the method was used to keep the drinks cold despite the lack of refrigeration facilities.

    The unusual cooling technique surprised many viewers online, including the man recording the scene, who could not hide his amazement at the local innovation. Natural cooling method stirs reactions

    Reacting in the background of the video, the man said: “Omo, this village life sweet ooh. See how them dey package drink oo. This kind drink, the way e go cold, even though na ice block dey use, e no go cold reach am.”

    He further explained how the method works, saying: “See how them dey do the packaging, na sand oo with a touch water. This one na natural cooler, you go see the way the thing go chill. Highest now, give am 1 hour.”

    The video quickly gained attention online, with many social media users debating whether the method reflected creativity or the harsh realities of poor electricity supply and economic hardship.

    Nigerians share mixed opinions online

    Several users flooded the comment section with differing views about the traditional cooling style.

    Angry Rabbit wrote: “Instead of asking for basic right, we always find a way to adapt to nonsense. Backward nation.”

    Another user, Papa, defended the local method and criticised modern technology, writing: “White men stole a lot from us …….. They stole our identity, heritage and gave us radiation and cancers in the name of technology.”

    Lexjay also blamed the country’s economic situation and unstable electricity supply, saying: “No light, petrol is too expensive to use generator. This is the result. Nigerians must wake hold the government. This is not life.”

    Kingkosec, however, praised traditional cooling methods, adding: “Nothing cold pass our clay pot water. How many of you drink from it?”
