British-Nigerian author and media personality Chidera Eggerue has stirred debate online after making controversial remarks about marriage, motherhood, and men during a heated conversation on Daddy Freeze’s podcast.

During the discussion, Eggerue explained why she has no interest in marriage, claiming that many women “lose themselves” after becoming wives and mothers.

According to her, women often sacrifice their ambitions, identity, and careers while men make fewer sacrifices in family life.

She argued that motherhood comes with serious emotional and physical risks, including mental health struggles and childbirth complications, which she believes are not worth risking because she already enjoys her current lifestyle.

Debate over marriage and gender roles

The conversation became more intense after Eggerue openly described herself as a “misandrist,” saying she does not like men.

The statement immediately sparked reactions from other participants on the podcast, who challenged her views and questioned whether she was using feminism to mask hostility towards men.

Eggerue also rejected the traditional belief that men should automatically serve as providers in relationships. According to her, every adult should be financially responsible for themselves, regardless of gender.

She further argued that pregnancy and childbirth can never be considered “50-50” because women carry the full burden and risks associated with childbirth.

Arguments over money and gender statistics

Another heated moment emerged when Eggerue claimed that women are increasingly earning more money than men.

However, another participant countered her statement by citing global wage statistics showing that women still earn significantly less than men on average.

The discussion later shifted into arguments about beauty, wealth, and societal expectations placed on both genders, with participants disagreeing over whether broad generalisations about men and women were fair.
