LIVE: Good Trouble Lives On: National Weekend of Action for Civic Engagement and Voting Rights | Atlanta, Ga. Hundreds of Georgians gather at Big Bethel A.M.E. Church as part of Good Trouble Lives On, a nationwide weekend of action honoring the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis through peaceful, nonviolent civic engagement. Atlanta is one of more than 600 communities across the country participating in coordinated actions during the July 17–19 weekend, bringing together faith leaders, civil rights advocates, grassroots organizations, and community members committed to strengthening democracy through voter education, voter registration, and civic participation. At a time when new voting restrictions and changing election rules threaten to create confusion and barriers for millions of Americans, this year’s mobilization focuses on ensuring communities have the information and resources they need to participate fully in our democracy. Grounded in the theme “Teach! Reach! Preach!”, the Atlanta gathering will combine civic education, faith-based organizing, and community outreach to help voters understand new voting requirements, encourage voter registration, and inspire continued engagement beyond Election Day. Inspired by Congressman Lewis’s lifelong commitment to nonviolent action and the protection of voting rights, organizers say the weekend is about carrying forward his belief that democracy depends on ordinary people taking extraordinary action on behalf of one another. “This weekend is about more than honoring John Lewis’ legacy—it is about living it,” organizers said. “Across the country, people are coming together to educate, organize, and ensure every eligible voter has the opportunity to make their voice heard.” The event is strictly nonpartisan and does not support or oppose any candidate or political party.
