Former Fenerbahce striker Serkan Dursun has praised Victor Osimhen‘s goalscoring ability but believes the Nigeria international lacks one key quality needed to succeed at Barcelona.

Dursun said Osimhen remains one of Europe’s most dangerous strikers inside the penalty area but argued that the Super Eagles forward’s all-round style does not suit the possession-based football traditionally associated with the Catalan club.

    Dursun points to tactical limitation

According to Dursun, Barcelona require a striker who contributes more in build-up play and can comfortably operate within the team’s intricate passing system.

While acknowledging Osimhen’s pace, aerial ability and finishing, the former forward suggested those strengths alone would not guarantee success at Camp Nou, insisting the Nigerian “can’t play for Barcelona” because of the tactical demands of the club.

His comments come as Barcelona continue searching for a long-term replacement for departing striker Robert Lewandowski.

    Barcelona linked with alternative target

Dursun’s assessment follows reports linking the Spanish champions with a move for Argentina international Julián Álvarez instead of Osimhen.

The Manchester City forward has reportedly emerged as one of Barcelona’s preferred attacking targets as the club plans for the future.

Meanwhile, Osimhen’s future remains unresolved. The former Napoli striker has been strongly linked with several top European clubs following another impressive campaign, but no decision has been announced.
