    National program prepares future college and university presidents 

    BALTIMORE — Coppin State University proudly announces that Dr. Ericka N. Covington, former Dean of Graduate Studies, has been selected for the 2026–2027 cohort of the AGB Institute for Leadership & Governance in Higher Education, a competitive national program designed to prepare senior leaders for college and university presidencies. 

    Led by the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, the institute brings together higher education professionals from across the country recognized for their leadership and commitment to student success. 

    Dr. Covington is recognized for advancing academic excellence, equity, and innovation in higher education. During her tenure at Coppin, she helped strengthen graduate programs, expand enrollment pipelines, and improve student success outcomes. 

    She holds a Doctor of Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership and brings experience in corporate leadership, executive development, and public service. A certified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practitioner through Cornell University, her work focuses on leadership, organizational transformation, and expanding access in higher education. 

    The AGB Institute provides mentorship, applied learning, and engagement with national higher education leaders to prepare participants to lead institutions at the highest levels. Dr. Covington joins a distinguished national cohort, further highlighting Coppin State University’s commitment to leadership development and academic excellence.
