A lady has sparked heated reactions online after criticising women who defend infidelity in relationships, insisting that cheating cannot be justified regardless of circumstances surrounding a marriage or relationship crisis.

The lady made the remarks while reacting to the ongoing controversy surrounding media personality Frank Edoho, his ex-wife and singer Chike.

In a strongly worded social media post shared on Thursday, she questioned why some women were allegedly excusing cheating with explanations about emotional neglect and lack of financial support in relationships.

    Lady condemns defence of infidelity

The day women start telling each other the truth instead of constantly defending nonsense, that’s the day we’ll witness real liberation,” she wrote.

Madam, simple question, did you cheat with Chike or not? All this ‘he wasn’t providing’, ‘I was unhappy’, explanation no change the fact that cheating is cheating. You had every opportunity to leave the relationship instead of being dishonest,” she added.

    Reactions trail relationship controversy

The lady also criticised women supporting the alleged affair in comment sections, saying accountability should not be abandoned because of gender solidarity.

And the most annoying part is seeing some women in the comments applauding it like it’s something to be proud of. Una really need to stop normalising rubbish. E ti ya wehrey. Zero sense of accountability,” she stated.

The controversy comes days after renewed conversations emerged online following claims surrounding Frank Edoho’s failed marriage.

Similar debates on accountability and infidelity have repeatedly surfaced on Nigerian social media platforms whenever celebrity relationship scandals trend online.
