Atlético Madrid have confirmed that Ademola Lookman did not suffer a serious injury following medical tests after the Copa del Rey final.

The Super Eagles forward underwent an MRI scan after being forced off during the defeat to Real Sociedad, raising initial concerns over a possible adductor problem.

    Scan results ease major concerns

Atletico clarified that Lookman is dealing with muscle discomfort rather than a significant injury.

The club stated that the 28-year-old will now be managed with caution to prevent further complications, ruling out any immediate risk of a long-term layoff.

    Individual recovery plan underway

As part of his recovery, Lookman will train separately from the main squad over the coming days.

No fixed return date has been set, with the club prioritising a gradual reintegration based on his response to treatment.

The Nigerian forward has contributed seven goals and four assists in 17 appearances, making him a key figure in Atletico’s attacking setup.

    Boost ahead of key fixtures

The update provides optimism for Atletico ahead of a crucial run of matches, including their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash with Arsenal.

At international level, Nigeria national team will also be encouraged, with Lookman expected to be available for upcoming friendlies.
