Greatest Homecoming on Earth lives up to the name for the 100th year.

October 31st, 2026 will mark the 100th G.H.O.E celebration at N.C. A&T. Ghoe notoriously consumes the campus and greater Greensboro area with Aggie pride, tradition and legacy for a week-long celebration.

The office of student activities(OSA) posted a homecoming survey available via their linktree with the goal of gaining input from the student population.

Within the homecoming survey, OSA specifically asked for event, theme and celebrity guest suggestions for the centennial week.

Besides this being the 100th celebration, this G.H.O.E  is special because it falls on Halloween day. Following the announcement, there were mixed reactions online regarding the celebration.

Some participants inquired about how the crossover will work. Some worry the festivities may be over-saturated with the Halloween theme, others inquiring family friendlessness with college students potentially walking around with scary costumes and more.

Zayla Fleming is a junior biology student who looks forward to celebrating homecoming.

“Since it’s the 100th GHOE, I’d love to see events that celebrate NCAT’s history while still being fun for current students. I also think a throwback theme highlighting different decades of GHOE would make the celebration feel even more special,” exclaimed Fleming.

G.H.O.E.  naturally does an excellent job of bringing people together, what better way to do that than through music? Music is a central part of A&T culture with the sounds of the blue and gold marching band,  line dance music and a plethora of others.

The annual G.H.O.E. concert has recently included big names such as Partnextdoor and Bryson tiller and in further years past bringing Migos, a Tribe called Quest and Lil Wayne.

The homecoming survey made clear that suggestions were welcomed but certain exceptions could not be made. For example, the survey said  J.Cole, Drake and Kirk Franklin cannot be booked due to touring, Beyoncé is out of the price range and Megan Thee Stallion does not perform for Universities.

Jadyn Hardeman is a junior Biology student and music lover, she attended the G.H.O.E concert in years past.

“I understand why the university couldn’t get the main artists that students wanted, but I appreciate that they gave us the opportunity to express our opinions on who we wanted to see perform. I also appreciate them being transparent about why some artists may be off limits” she said

Besides musical artists, the survey asked students about their thoughts concerning a G.H.O.E celebrity basketball game.

Discourse questioned if the celebrities would be local to the area or wider known. Presumably the celebrities would come with a price tag as the survey asked how much students would be willing to pay to attend the game.

The SGA Vice president of external affairs is Christian Woods Fair. He holds a pivotal position in the coordination of homecoming, overseeing partnerships with major brands and facilitating creative direction for campus events.

Fair seemingly would be a helping hand in going through the surveys and coming up with the best way to give students what they want to see for the centennial home celebration.

It is important that the student body’s voice is heard rather than just one group’s perspective. This is why electing leaders that students trust to make decisions on their behalf is crucial.

Nonetheless, the 100th GHOE  will be one for the books. Aggies and non aggies should anticipate fun for all ages for a week long celebration rooted in aggie pride and culture.
